Flotilla is a full-service marketing and communications agency specialising in storytelling.  We advise businesses who need to get their brand narrative sorted.  Then we help them bring their story alive in ways that measurably create growth.  Our preferred medium – because of our TV roots – is film and animation, but we are seasoned marketing all-rounders too.  We create campaigns that are rooted in insight and strategy and which draw on the full range of marketing techniques from design and website development to online media planning.

Charles Mills

Managing Director

Charles founded Flotilla five years ago with a conviction that what marketing needs is more clear thinking and good stories.  A highly experienced communicator, he made his name originally as Head of Marketing at the Victoria and Albert Museum (where he commissioned the iconic "Ace Caff" campaign) and the Royal Horticultural Society.  He then spent ten years leading the digital and corporate communications division of the TV company Twofour where he worked with (among others) GSK, Audi, the British Heart Foundation and the Royal Navy.  Charles is a trustee of the National Youth Agency.  He read Classics at Cambridge and was Choate Fellow at Harvard University.

Planning Director

Peter joined us from the world of advertising and brand marketing. He spent many years as a strategic planner on accounts as diverse as Tesco, RBS and Virgin Media working for a number of leading London based agencies including EHS Brann, Rapier, OgilvyOne, and CHI & Partners. He brings to Flotilla strong consumer brand and research skills coupled with the ability to devise hardworking responsive campaigns.

NICK DIXON

Creative Director

Nick possesses that rare combination of skills - the ability to really get under the skin of strategic marketing and consumer insight, and to turn that into compelling stories on screen.

He’s produced films and content for a wide range of consumer brands over the years including Ella’s Kitchen, Tesco, Princess Yachts, Riverford Organics and BBC Food. Nick has a particular passion for charity and and non-profit organisations, telling powerful emotive stories for the likes of Clic Sargent and the Royal Marines Charity and The Royal Foundation.

Director of Production

Fiona has a wealth of industry experience.  She recently joined us from The Moment where she headed up a range of accounts: Olympic TV, BBC, Ogilvy Entertainment, C4, RHS and Yahoo! and won numerous awards.  At Flotilla her role is to combine very high quality creative output with tight project management.

BETH McHATTIE

Associate Director

Beth brings the full range of communications skills to Flotilla including press, strategy, campaigning, government and stakeholder relations.  After 10 years at Sotheby's, she moved to English Heritage, now Historic England, repositioning the organisation as a major player in social and economic regeneration.  In particular she enjoys broking partnerships through her highly effective networks spanning public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

 

Ben Stirling

Interactive Designer

Ben has been designing and producing award winning interactive media since 2000.  He started his career as a designer, progressing through project management and leading teams of designers and front end developers.  He has a passion for interactive design and loves to be hands on with the creative process.

Gill has over 20 years’ experience writing clear, concise and compelling content – from succinct and persuasive sales and marketing copy to engaging social media, editorial and internal comms. Her broad cross-sector experience covers a wide range of industries including healthcare, finance, property, travel, education and events.

JON CLEMENTS

Consultant Director

Jon plays a key role in the ideation process and is a vital contributor to our format lab sessions. He also has a strong network of global crews and directors we draw on.

In particular Jon specialises in producing beautiful content for luxury and fashion brands. He has directed films for many designer labels including Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, Cos, Max Mara, Gap, Versus Versace, Diesel as well as beauty brands including MAC, Estee Lauder, Nexxus, Kiko, Ioma, and Tom Ford Beauty.
